  • Mmm-Mmm-Miles! (Ver. 2.0+)
  • Trashed Tools

_,000 Nook Miles

DIY Furniture

Craft DIY Furniture.

As one of the grindiest goals in the game, this goal tasks players with needing to craft large numbers of DIY furniture items.

The best way to complete this goal would be to craft furniture items with the lowest resource costs. Furniture items such as the “Bamboo Wall Decoration” or “Coconut Juice” are ideal, as they can be crafted with a single coconut or bamboo piece each. Other low resource items, like Modeling Clay, Frying Pans, Stone Stools, Campfires, etc., will also help you to complete this goal faster.

Just be aware that DIY flooring, rugs or wallpapers will not count towards this goal.

Level 1: Craft 5 DIY Furniture Items.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Handmade”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Resident”

300 Nook Miles.

Level 2: Craft 50 DIY Furniture Items.

Title Keyword Part 2: “King” / “Queen”

3,000 Nook Miles.

Furniture Freshener

Customize furniture at a workbench.

Furniture Customization can be unlocked after having 2 new residents move to your Island. You’ll have to attend Tom Nook’s Customization Workshop before the feature is unlocked at any DIY Table.

Most DIY furniture can be customized, and a few “mass-marketed” items can be customized as well, such as the in-game Nintendo Switch.

Customizing tools will also count towards this goal, and happens to be the most cost-effective way of meeting this goal, at one customization per kit.

Level 1: Perform 5 furniture customizations.

Title Keyword Part 2: “Eccentric”

300 Nook Miles

Level 2: Perform 20 furniture customizations.

Trashed Tools

Have your tools break after use.

In New Horizons, players can make their own tools at will. The only downside to this is that nearly all of their tools will break, due to hidden durability counters on their tools.

The quickest way to fully complete this goal would be to use flimsy tools until they break, but this goal can be completed naturally throughout the course of regular gameplay as well.

Level 1: Break 1 tool.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Rascally”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Clown”

300 Nook Miles

Rock-Splitting Champ

Hit a single rock 8 times in a row.

When hitting rocks, the faster you hit them in rapid succession, the more items you get! The best way to do this is to use a Shovel, not an axe, and dig holes along the outer edge of the rock’s perimeter. Then hit away!

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Sports-Minded”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Muscle”

Written Communication

Who says writing letters is a dying art? Not Animal Crossing. And while you don’t have to write any profound messages, the game does encourage you to write messages for other players.

There are two goals for this in particular:

  • Bulletin-Board Benefit
  • Popular Pen Pal

Bulletin-Board Benefit

Post something to an Island’s bulletin board. (You can freely delete your post at any time.)

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Rumormongering”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Influencer”

300 Nook Miles.

Popular Pen Pal

Send letters to island residents or other players.

Letters can be sent from the Airport for 200 Bells a letter. If you have online friends or another user profile on your Switch, buying items for friends/other profiles through Nook Shopping will count as sending a letter.

Additionally, you can also send letters to yourself or your island residents, too!

If need be, players can send blank letters off to make progress in this goal.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Art-School”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Boy/Girl”

Bug Challenges

Catching bugs is easy-ish. But do you have what it takes to pull off these bug-based challenges? Ok, the hardest part about these can be the spawn rates, but still!

If you’ve got nerves of steel, then go for these goals in particular:

  • Flea Flicker
  • Cicada Memories
  • Netting Better!

Flea Flicker

Catch fleas from Island Residents with a net.

On occasion, an Island resident will complain that they’re feeling itchy. When talking to them, their catchphrases will also change to variations of being itchy. Hit the resident with your net to capture a flea.

Level 1: Catch 1 flea off an Island Resident.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Tidy”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Wild Child”

300 Nook Miles.

Level 2: Catch 5 fleas off Island Residents.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Highly Aware”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Neatnik”

500 Nook Miles.

Level 3: Catch 10 fleas off Island Residents.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Fastidious”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Character”

1,000 Nook Miles.

Cicada Memories

Catch a Cicada Shell.

Note: Cicada Shells are very rare “insects”, found at any time of day during the peak summer months. (July, August in the Northen Hemisphere.) These can be found sitting on the sides of trees.

Visually speaking, they’re a fairly bright orange color, with a long, vertical white stripe along its back.

After some testing, we can confirm that these bugs do not leave trees when running near them. They will, however, fall to the ground and disappear if a tree is chopped or shaken first.

The challenge isn’t in catching the shells, but getting them to spawn!

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Shell-Less”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Being”

1,000 Nook Miles.

Netting Better!

Catch 5 wasps in a row from shaking trees.

Wasps will have a chance to appear from hardwood and cedar trees when shaken. To make catching the wasps easier, it is recommended to carry a net when shaking trees. This will give you a few seconds to swing at the wasps before they chase you.

If you can’t find 5 wasps on your island, use a Nook Miles ticket to go on a Mystery Tour. There’s always at least 1 wasp nest in a tree there.

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Accurate”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Deadeye”

1,000 Nook Miles.

Island Dangers

You may have started developing your island, but did you know there are certain… misfortunes to be wary of? Fortunately, you’ll earn some Miles to help offset the negatives!

Here’s some goals to avoid, or rather, purposefully trigger for some more Miles:

  • Pit-y Party
  • Taking the Sting Out
  • Faint of Heart
  • Overcoming Pitfalls
  • Faked Out (ver 1.2+)

Pit-y Party

Bury a pitfall seed on your island!

Note: you do not have to craft the pitfall seed yourself to complete this goal, you only need to bury a pitfall seed in general!

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Wild-Child”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Troublemaker”

300 Nook Miles

Taking the Sting Out

Faint from being stung by Wasps twice, without taking medicine.

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Risen”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Phoenix”

300 Nook Miles.

Overcoming Pitfalls

Fall into a pitfall trap.

Note: Pitfall traps are indistinguishable from dig spots, but they do not occur naturally in New Horizons. Only players can create pitfall traps, by burying Pitfall Seeds.

I’ve fallen into a pitfall trap I made, and it completed the goal on version 1.2.1 c. If you’ve got a pitfall seed, triggering your own trap should work, too!

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Trapped”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Reckless One”

300 Nook Miles

*Faked Out!

Have fake art appraised by Blathers at the Museum. (Added in the 1.2.0. Update.)

Redd is a very shifty character, selling his wares in the very dimly lit Treasure Trawler. As a result, sometimes you don’t realize you’ve bought a fake until after the fact! Blathers will assess the art if you try to donate it to your museum.

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Plausible”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Fake”

500 Nook Miles

You know what makes each and every island special? You! Specifically, how you choose to develop your island!

From fencing, outdoor furniture placement, terraforming, and your island’s icons, the options are virtually endless.

There’s even some Miles to be had from making wishes upon shooting stars!

Make your island one to remember by completing these goals:

  • Fun with Fences
  • Snowmaestro
  • Wishes Come True
  • Exterior Decorator
  • [Island Name] Icons
  • Island Designer

Fun with Fences

Place 20 Fence posts.

Complete:

Title Keyword Part 1: “Efficient”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Partitioner”

500 Nook Miles.

Snowmaestro

Create perfect Snowfolk on your island during winter.

During winter, your island will be blanketed in snow, and you’ll also be able to find two small snowballs on your island, daily. Roll the snowballs up, then into each other, and you’ll have made a snowperson!

The easiest way to make perfect snowpeople involves using the Island Designer app, creating a non-Grass path 10 blocks wide, and rolling up both snowballs as large as possible.

Once the two snowballs are at their largest, put them on both ends of the path (on the snow), and roll one across the path to the other. When done right, you should have a perfect snowperson every time!

Level 1: Make 1 perfect snowboy.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Cold-Sensitive”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Sprite”

300 Nook Miles.

Level 2: Make 10 perfect snowpeople.

Level 3: Make 20 perfect snowpeople.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Cool”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Imp”

1,000 Nook Miles.

Wishes Come True

Wish upon shooting stars at night. Shooting Stars can be found from 7PM onwards.

You’ll need to move the right stick up when not moving to see the sky above. When you see a bright blue object falling with a color changing gleam and a sparkling trail, press the “A” button to make a wish! When done right, the star will shine a bright yellow, and a sound will play. If you see one star, continue looking up, as shooting stars fall in groups.

If Isabelle or Tom Nook mention shooting stars during the morning announcements, shooting stars will fall for the entire night, with an increased frequency. If this happens, you can make several hundreds of wishes in a few hours, easily completing the entire goal card.

Level 1: Make 1 wish upon a shooting star.

Title Keyword Part 1: “Late-Night”
Title Keyword Part 2: “Meteorite”

300 Nook Miles.

Level 2: Make 30 wishes upon shooting stars.

These pieces share the same spawn spots as Manila Clams, which are dark spots in the sand that eject water. Return all 5 pieces to Gulliver, and he will send you a world-travel based item as a reward to your home mailbox the following day.

(As of 1.3.0, you can also encounter Gullivarrr, who also washes ashore your island. Instead of digging for Communicator Pieces, you will need to dive in your island’s ocean, and find the missing communicator that way.
